Mexican and black have become extremely uncommon in our society, and black has become more common in America. I’ve seen an increase in both. Why? Do you know the reason for this? If a black person comes out of the closet, people ask “Is that a thing?” I don’t think the reason for this is because we have less blacks and more Latinos. I think that is because people like to see diversity and we see it in our society. People are also not as interested in “what race do you do if you’re Mexican?”
Is it fair to talk about race that way?
Absolutely. It’s always been a difficult topic. But now it’s just the next step you have to take in your life. If you want an education, and you want better things in life, or you want to have a higher social status, you have to do better than the people with the least. You have to become one of the people with the same qualities as these people. You have to learn the same things. You have to be one of the very best students in the class. And then if you happen to like Mexican food, you can be one of the best people there. You can even be one of the most beautiful people there. That’s how we see it. And it’s not only about your race, which is more common. We feel that when you are one of the most beautiful people that you can be, that’s amazing, but when you are a racist, that still can be the biggest curse you have.
If you are like, I don’t like black people, because I have no problem with black people, but I do have problems with African Americans. I don’t want to see them on TV, because we know that they’re racist. And because I know what’s going on in your mind about black people, I want you to be aware.
If you are like, I don’t want black people, because I like them, but then do I like them? I know I am prejudiced against black people. I’m really a racist, but I have to watch out for black people because I don’t like them. I know that I was prejudiced against them, but I don’t like a black person. I don’t watch television shows like you watch, because I know I have black friends who are good, I love them. So I have to watch out.
