I do think that it is easy to learn to piano playing, it is fun, and it can be challenging, especially if you are a beginner, but if you really want to move on to the next level, it will likely be a step-by-step process that you will have to go through. You have to learn all the techniques, then you have to practice, then it will get easier. I think if you are not a student of piano I feel like it is not a daunting process.

Once you reach that level of confidence, then you can start figuring out what kind of music you want to make. You will definitely want to listen to music. I have a small CD collection to help me start listening to all kinds of music. But I will give you a specific list of music I like to listen to and I can show you a basic step by step process how to do it. I would encourage you to take a look if you are interested. Music I like to listen to is jazz, rock, oldies, folk, disco, country, pop rock, classic/early hits, acoustic, gospel etc. Anything that is “old school” like jazz, classic rock, rock, or country.
When it comes to songs I listen to I just go to the ones that I love. I never really look at the lyrics so I just listen to the tune and enjoy the sound of the song. I rarely really analyze how the song is written because that just gives you extra points in a competitive sense and makes your skill set seem more like the most skilled of the bunch. When I hear the melody and feel what’s going on the music I immediately know what to do.
