As far as I know, no – that’s a very simple example. The human body is made up of a fluid and a solid, with air and water being parts of the fluid and a solid part of the solid. In order to get a man to levitate, what you do is you introduce gravity into the air – air would naturally float to the top of a man who has a strong air supply, because that’s where gravity is strongest. But once you’ve found out that the air is lighter than the air, you can introduce gravity into the solid, and that will also raise the air to the top as well – as long as the solid is not too dense. So, if you do that right, this will allow that air to go faster than the water and keep the air from going down too quickly. Another way of doing this is by bringing the air directly next to the water. We call this “breathing.” If you bring the water directly next to your body, then you are bringing the water’s gravitational force directly to the top of your body, and in this case, the water is buoyant, so it will float into the room and push against the air, but it won’t drop too far. You can keep that air going with more breathing, as long as there’s a decent amount of air in the room.”
“How do you do that with liquid helium? The only way it would actually work is to hold it in liquid nitrogen,” says Farr, “which is a much heavier gas than liquid helium, so helium isn’t really suitable.
