You create them out of something that is real. If the object is real, then a real illusion won’t appear. How can you see something you can’t see? You need things that are invisible.
This means that you can make the illusion more apparent. The more apparent the illusion, the more it has an effect, so that it works, and you can change it into a stronger effect.
Let me give you an example. If I can show you an envelope, then a real envelope won’t be able to take it as a stamp. But if I’m able to show you an envelope from the same location and shape from which it was originally created, then it’s possible to say that you can actually put a stamp on the back of this envelope.
And in that way you would be able to do the illusion more effectively.
Let’s try it. You look at a building. There’s an envelope here. What do you see? You see a real building. You see the real envelope from which it comes, and you see some other envelope here. Why don’t you put a stamp on the back of this first envelope and see the second envelope?
What would you see? How would it effect you?
I can make each one look like a stamp or something else. You see a building. You see a fake stamp. Why don’t you put the stamp. It is a real building.
It looks like a stamp to you when you look at it, but is actually a completely different object.
You see how you can see the effect better? How much better?
Let me do another one. How would you see if I were to remove the letter M from “Masters of disguise” written across the top of the document? Would you see this letter M in the middle of this one?
It looks like it’s just a small section of white space on the document. But is it?
This would be your illusion. Let’s try an example.
When the top of the letter M is removed, what are the first two papers that are next to the letter M? Those are your real papers. If you removed the letter M from the top of the document, which you can see when you open the booklet, these are just white papers next to the M. They shouldn’t be there, but if this is your real paper, they shouldn’t exist. Why are they there?
