What is the meaning of social dances? – Center For Social Dance Facebook Reviews For Pellegrino

What do social dances mean? They mean that a woman is on trial. What are you doing? Who do you think you are? We take the words and the ideas as given and then we try to figure out what we could do in a way that does the most to support those women, to understand the experience of men in relationship to women more than the idea that women must be in the position of men and that women are weaker in their bodies.

How are dance performances in contemporary communities relevant to the women in our communities?

When I first began doing dance performances in my community in my late teens, it seemed to me a very radical thing to do. Then I began to see the women who came out after my early productions were very powerful and had a very big impact. I saw how they carried themselves and how they would not be intimidated into changing their dance style or not perform in anything that they didn’t find feminine.

What do you like to practice?

I love using what we have in our community to bring awareness to social issues. Whether it’s the way we are allowed to dress at our weddings, or how we are dressed during a work or personal event, those are the things that I am most concerned with. They are the things that I want to educate the people in my community and help them.

Have you ever participated in any non-sexual dances in your life?

Yes, but the experience was more of an immersion into the whole body and how we move together as a community, for example at an assembly or assembly place, a dance hall or a community center. I did what they wanted. I saw who my peers were and who was participating. I watched them in their clothes and I was able to see how beautiful they were. How they carried themselves.

My experience of dancers is that they are the artists and I am their role model. They are the ones who are able to give me hope that I am going somewhere that I might find the strength to go. That was really important to me as a dancer. I always believed that this is what dance meant: to get out, to get out of your comfort zone.

Do you have any dance books or films you are considering performing with in the New Year?

Yes, as I mentioned in my previous answer. I’m really interested in performing with the National Theatre of Canada’s Women’s Music project. I’m also excited about the new dance from the United Nations Women’s International
