In the first round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Montreal Canadiens prospect Michael McCarron and Carolina Hurricanes prospect Elias Lindholm each received votes in our first post-season poll. The Carolina Hurricanes’ Jonathan Huberdeau took third spot in that poll when he received 21.9% — he took his spot in the NHL’s first post-season vote. In last year’s draft, Philadelphia Flyers prospect Shayne Gostisbehere followed with 17.6% — his share of the vote in our first post-season was the highest in our history.
With this year’s playoffs, we decided to do a different poll. We’re announcing this week who gets our first post-season vote. We’ll announce this week who gets our second post-season vote and those who get our third post-season vote. (Note: We’ll have more updates on the post-season voting coming up later in May, along with a new format for the voting.)
Below, we have the players voted on and the team that’s best suited for their position. You can check out all the team’s voting results here, and check out the teams’ ballots and post-season votes here. We’ll have complete information for all playoff candidates in a bit. We’ll update all the rankings in a bit.

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia may consider new sanctions against the United States, President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman said on Monday and it had decided to suspend all bilateral contacts on fighting terrorism, after the U.S. Senate voted to approve a bill that imposed sanctions on Moscow and its ally Syria.
Russia has been angered by the anti-Assad legislation. Russia argues that Washington is trying to topple Assad and that Moscow had nothing to do with his rise to power by force.
Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the legislation is a “political stunt against Russia by the United States … and an obvious provocation … to draw it into some kind of conflict with our neighbors,” and said Moscow would consider any potential new sanctions in response.
