Well, if your 16, you can learn it if you know some basic chords and basic solos that will get you started on your way to learning music. But you need a lot more experience than that.
If you’re feeling adventurous you can learn chords and solos by ear without any technical knowledge. You don’t need a musical theory book, but you’ll always have to listen!
7) What do I need to start? How do I make it more difficult?
You’re probably doing a great job, and now it’s time to start really tackling the music by ear.
First, you need to develop the ear of not only guitarists, but also musicians. Listen to each song, observe its nuances, try to figure out exactly what’s happening. Listen to the music for at least 5 minutes before moving on.
Do you know the tune you’re going to play while listening to a new song? Is the rhythm right? You want to go over it for the first time, and then try to play it without thinking about it until you’ve got a good groove. Then go through the whole song again, with one simple idea in mind (something you’ll really like – e.g., a bass chord).
When you get to the actual song, you’ll have a lot more free creative space in which to experiment with the chord changes, which will be a very important part of your development as a guitarist.
A lot of people assume that learning to play a song using only the fingerings will be an easy task, but it can be very difficult. This applies to both learning new songs, and studying music and music theory.
To help you out, you should know what to count! Do you have some numbers to memorize? Then try to memorize them! I’m not a mathematician, so I’m using it here as an example.
In my last article (I think it’s called “How to learn the chord melody”) I’ve explained how to learn chords with counting. If you need something to listen to to help you learn, you can listen to Bach’s Sonatine with music theory in mind. The melody I have here can get quite confusing, or at times you might stumble.
You can also memorize chords by ear by trying to play the chord tones, using whatever you know of on the guitar and the music theory to help you learn. I’ve found that by using the chords and playing simple patterns,
