I like the gimp more. It’s much easier to get some code to run in a GUI, which isn’t a pain for my purposes. Krita, on the other hand, feels to me like it could have been designed for something more.
If people want to use the Gimp interface (which is available on windows on my macbook), then I would say I prefer Krita. I don’t find that it has the “wow” factor of gimp, and I don’t particularly like what the author has done with it.
I think a lot of the gimp style “woo” factor is that it’s much lighter on the eyes, and less visually appealing.
I personally find it more in line with my sensibilities. I don’t think it should be heavy on the eyes, and I just don’t feel it’s as eye-grabbing to the eye as Krita.
I don’t need that fancy GUI and I don’t need a good UI design. I’m looking for a program that suits me. Something I can use easily, whether I’m printing my paper on my computer printer or drawing and doing the computer graphics in Photoshop, and that’s something I’ll use for months or years to come.
What’s the easiest way to get a new license to use Krita on windows?

The first is to simply get a license on Krita’s site (http://krita.org/download).
This doesn’t do the trick for me (though I’d love to), since I only have one license on my computer, and I know there are other people out there who don’t either (and they also don’t have Krita on their computer).
The second way is to follow this site (which I’ve noticed is becoming quite popular), which has a huge list of “krita” packages. There may be packages for many different programs, not just Krita.
One of my favorite “krita” packages is krita1.5 – it only costs 1 euro. It’s a very fast, lightweight package that should work fine with Krita 1.4. You can get it at https://www.krita.org/download/krita
