Step 1
Choose the most appropriate editing option for the photo, or for the image that is going to be used in the photo (like the foreground or background). In case of the main photo, you need to choose the top option. For background images, you cannot choose any of the other options, but you need to choose the background option and choose the foreground option to see the actual image in the edited photo.
Step 2
As a user, it is recommended to save the edited file into the Photos app. This is so that you can use the app to select and apply all the other editing options you may want to apply in case you need them. The way to save the edited photo is by pressing the “Export…” button. As the screen is not yet ready, we need to confirm the process by pressing the Export button.
Step 3
Now that the process is done, it is time to go into the app and save the altered version of the photo into another location. I suggest to go into Photos via the File menu by pressing the Menu button, and select “Save changes…”.
Step 4
Now that this process is done, we need to go into the Photos app again and apply the edited photo. Go into the image gallery or select “Edit > Photos” from the main menu. There you need to go from the Edit menu to the “Saved” menu. Click on “Save modifications”.
Step 5
After clicking on the “Saved” button, you should get the preview picture of the photo. Now go back to the main screen again and scroll down to the “Photos album in Windows 8” option (if you are using the full sized version in the phone, you can choose it with a single tap and navigate to the Albums tab in the gallery). Click on the thumbnail to see the edited version of the photo, click on the “Open” button.
Step 6
Once you open the edited image, there will be the selected image in the bottom left corner and the title bar at the bottom right. To go back to the edited image in the gallery, just click on “Cancel”, or go back to the main screen.
