The pianist who teaches you has very particular expectations for your progress, or needs a “take-home.” They want to know what kind of work you have done, what you would like to be able to do in the future when you leave them and to get to know your goals and goals of a piano education.

What else should you know now?
While your piano teacher would be the most critical of what you learn, they would also be the first one to recommend a good teacher.
They have heard people be rejected or fail without being able to understand a concept or find one that they like.
Their primary goal is you learning the piano and they will work hard to get in your pants.
You can expect one of them to be an experienced musician, a former piano player or a former instructor. Many of them have been pianists for decades. Other would have learned piano at a young age or would be students at piano schools.
Your piano teacher would be someone who is knowledgeable regarding your skills and who will spend time learning about them or you.
When they can no longer work up to your expectations, they will leave you, and you will begin to ask the questions you want answered by your piano teacher.

Do you need to take a test?
This is very important to know as you become more interested in learning music. A good lesson may not have been very long ago. But it may not have been a teacher you have been in touch with often or who has been teaching you the piano for a while. Some teachers may be looking for someone new to work with.
How long should you expect to take to become proficient on the piano?
For a very good reason. It is crucial you understand the significance of a teacher with experience. It is not enough to have seen that the teacher has been in your piano classes; a few weeks or even months is ideal.
