Is it hard to see the sound of a song once you understand it? (The music you are learning)
“Yes! For piano, the ‘sound’ of the piano is actually more than just the fundamental notes of a melody. The overall effect is an emotional connection with the music.”
How would you describe the difference between studying for a competitive sport and studying for a career in music?
“Sports are a great way to be creative; a career in music is for sure. However, the main goal is to be a good musician.”
What is your favorite piece of music and why?
“One of my favorites from my childhood is ‘When the Wind Blows.” It’s just amazing! If you are interested in composing, it’s also a great piece to work on.”
What is your favorite classical music?
“I always like Mozart and Handel’s ‘The Marriage of Figaro,’ because it has such a good balance of melody and rhythm.”
Where did you study music in college?
“I studied music theory and composition in the Berklee College of Music (Boston, ME) in Boston, MA. I also spent part of my time with music composition in the U.S. Air Force.”
If you could pick your dream profession, what would you apply yourself for?
“Music is an amazing field and I’d love to be a composer/singer in a major studio. I also have a lot of interests related to science and technology and would like to build a small lab to investigate how technology can be used to create new opportunities for musicians.”
Have you ever lost a musical instrument?

“Well it was an old, used ‘trombone’ that I found on Craigslist. It was pretty much just broken and would not play anything in the studio. I had to use my bass for a time for my piano lessons, and my teacher found that that is where I could really improve as an instructor.”
What is your favorite song and why?
“The last song I ever sang in concert was ‘Swan Lake.'”
How would you describe it to somebody who is learning to read music?
“Reading music is a learning process that requires a lot of time that is hard to put in your schedule. That’s why it
