I’d have to say 4-5 years – that’s on the low side, but it’s definitely achievable. Just make sure you’re playing and performing with your instrument – as well as playing and learning – each year. The more you practice, the greater your musical abilities will grow.
What would you rather do than work as a teacher – teaching or teaching at a conservatory?
I’d love to become a teacher. The reason for that is because I feel like if I didn’t enjoy it, I’d feel like I sucked at it, and that’s not a good thing. Plus, I know a lot of great classical musicians who teach at conservatories. But that only happens when both musicians and teachers are comfortable; when the teachers are well-balanced and the musicians are well-trained.
What would you do if you didn’t love performing classical music?

The Supreme Court has ordered the state of Tennessee to reimburse several organizations for the damage from Superstorm Sandy.
The state sued a number of organizations in an effort to recover damage from super storm Sandy in 2012 and 2013.
The lawsuit seeks refunds on the cost for repairing, replacing, or replacing damaged building materials, and for the expense incurred by public schools related to Sandy damage, all in excess of $25 million.
The lawsuit also alleges that “several hundred” individual defendants for not paying property taxes for years after Sandy, as well as for not reporting the damage to public officials.
A number of individuals and businesses have been named in the suit, including The Tennessee Restoration Committee, the American Cancer Society of the Capital Region Foundation, the Tennessee Department of Education, the Tennessee Department of Economic Opportunity and the American Red Cross.
Other plaintiff’s attorneys’ organizations include the National Wildlife Federation and the Southern Environmental Law Center. The organizations are joined in the lawsuit by attorneys from the United States Department of Justice, New York City Division of the IRS, Tennessee Attorney General’s Department and the Tennessee Office of State Risk Management.
The suit filed by the Department of Finance and Administration seeks back taxes, penalties, costs and attorneys’ fees against the individuals, entities and businesses of entities named in the lawsuit, as well as for the costs to repair, replace, or replace building materials in excess of estimated costs.
