As the instructor of a school, I teach a school of piano to 5-8 pupils in our school. We teach children piano in several parts of their life, as children grow up they can learn music from an earlier age and become fluent in the language.
As a piano teacher, I have many responsibilities, but here I only spend part of my practice time on classical music. Many of my students will go on to improve their piano skills. In the meantime, I have my time to spare to teach their piano skills in other areas, without having to spend any time on classical music.
My primary job is to teach piano and to help students to master the piano, although I do make other piano classes for some children. I am happy to offer children a piano lesson as a free choice of playing what their parents play, although the playing is on a piano where the music is recorded and can be played at a later stage.
What is the most important quality in a teacher
Firstly, the teacher must be able to instruct the pupils without any distractions. They must be able to play at their desired speed and rhythm. And also their students should not be frustrated when they arrive at their lesson.
Secondly, the teacher must have the ability to give guidance without giving advice. They must be able to take a few minutes to ask the pupils a question and give it to them.
I am also interested in teachers who are really skilled in a specific subject and want to improve their own piano skills, but don’t want to spend too much time on classical music.
How do you know whether your student is a good pianist?
A good piano student will not be frustrated or feel unimportant when he/she first starts learning to play the piano. They will develop a good foundation for playing any musical instrument.
One of the key elements in determining whether a piano student is good is the skill of the piano itself.
The piano must be sound, sound in tune, playable, able to play fast and loud and accurate.
There is this debate amongst many young musicians about whether they can play or not, that is not what I am interested in. I am interested in them using the piano so they learn to play piano, and use it correctly and effectively. That is what I want to help them to do, not the theory that they may receive before they get into the classroom.
