A Soccer Pitch for Adults 1 – 30 min
A soccer pitch is a piece of flat-roofed dirt, stone, or clay located in a street or park. Most streets throughout the USA are not paved. There is however often a wooden sidewalk on the side of the street. It is usually paved, or a grassed area is available on the street. It may be possible to build a soccer pitch on the paved area using sand-sized bricks cut down to size and fitted with rubber strips for traction from the ground. A soccer pitch usually has a slope (and can even be sloped downward with a retaining wall ) and a level surface. It is used for soccer and other recreational sports that have a large crowd, such as soccer, basketball, baseball, hockey, lacrosse and others. Most are very flat, although some are raised or at least slope a little. Soccer pitches range from very low with a clear field to relatively high and with more or less a slope. They can vary from only a few feet off the ground and almost free, to about 40-60 feet off the ground with a fair bit of slope. Pitch dimensions include the total length and an average of all three or more dimensions (total height, total width and the base width). There are also a variety of different heights and/or heights. See the soccer pitch guide for more detailed information.
A baseball field is a set of artificial field dimensions made to replicate the natural conditions found on the playing field of a baseball stadium. Some baseball fields are of the same size and shape as a soccer pitch and others are not. Baseball fields are often built with the goal lines close to the goal and are typically a bit shorter than a soccer pitch. A field usually has a slope, but sometimes can rise up or down over the course of a game or season. On those rare occasions where the field slopes up steeply, it is a “double” outfield, where the baseball field is attached to the soccer pitch.
A basketball park or hoop, which is a collection of four or more basketball nets, used for playing basketball, will often have a soccer pitch built on either side. Many other areas and parks use baskets, balls and hoops, both natural and constructed, for indoor, outdoor, competitive and recreational activities. The soccer pitch is often used for indoor, outdoor and even competitive sports, including basketball. See soccer and basketball for all other types of sports and activities.
