No. But it’s the way that you learn piano by ear – by feeling, being in time with the notes, and getting an idea of just why the chord sounds great. You can take chords and turn them into songs and use them in other ways. You don’t have to try and memorize a whole song and then be able to produce it live, but there is something to that idea – and that’s what we’re learning about with piano.
This morning is the fourth anniversary of the mass shooting the morning of April 20th. After a horrific series of events in Newtown, Connecticut, the national conversation on gun control heated up. People from all over the political spectrum were talking about this issue, many of them advocating for restrictions that would make our lives much less safe. Some of these supporters of background checks have suggested that people like me, who support common-sense gun control, should be ashamed. Instead they’ve called for “concealed carry” so we can be ready on our holidays.
Unfortunately, today, that’s exactly what the law-abiding citizens who actually use guns to protect our communities want you to think.
The only difference between a gun show and a gun show that goes on the internet and has thousands of buyers in one facility, is that there are usually lots of people there to help process the sale and, most commonly, to help keep an eye out for suspicious individuals. At gun shows, you get the same people in one place where there are plenty of people to help. Most people in that crowded space with that amount of people looking in the same direction are in on something.
The people we’re talking about are the real criminals out there. These people don’t make the decisions themselves. They have someone inside the show who can see what’s going on. When I buy a rifle, or more importantly, a rifle kit, I have someone there to make sure I can shoot the best I can. It’s very easy to tell that person that they’re working for the police or something, so they shouldn’t be showing up there. And if a good person is showing up, it means everyone is working the deal. That’s much better.
But at gun shows, they’ve all had their people show up there looking for that sale. That’s the real difference here.
The NRA has a point about how our current gun laws are so ineffective, but that doesn’t make all of the people who do terrible things with guns a bunch of crazy
