Yeah, everything I play, I play with all of my fingers.
I really liked that because it made the ukulele feel more like an instrument for you and not just some toy to throw around.
You know, I don’t usually play all those sorts of tunes and play really fast but I like to keep things really simple where it’s just an open string and string-hand technique.
What’s a common mistake people make when they try to write music for a ukulele?
People think they know the uke because they’ve played it. I mean, the more music you write for it, the less music you have in the beginning. You’ll need a lot of songs before you know the uke.
I’m sorry, I’ve had quite a bit of fun writing a song for the ukulele.

You say you’re not an instrument person, are you still learning the karate or are you trying to get better?
No. If my music sounds amazing on my uke, I don’t think I would teach it to anybody else.
I’m just surprised that people don’t come up with some weird-sounding riffs for it. There’s obviously some inspiration behind every kind of thing you do.
The truth is, the things that interest me most are just the weird, crazy things that you can do with your finger.
And they might not sound like much, but if you play it really fast, that’s what really sets it off.
So, do you have a dream ukulele for one day?
No. I don’t have a dream ukulele.
That, or just really good uke.
I think the most important thing is that I always stay at my original playing speed whenever I play in public. And if you can stay at that velocity, then you can play with any uke.
