Why does my horse rear? – Gulfstream Park Horse Racing Handicapping Tips Horse

Does this mean that you cannot get back on your feet?

Because this is the problem with your horse and your relationship with him. You are having the wrong relationship with your horse and that means every aspect of his physical, emotional and mental health is affected.

Your horse is not “your horse”, he’s yours. He’s your piece of art and he should be treated like one. However, if he does rear into the front it has to mean he’s injured or ill. This is where it comes down to the question of the horse being able to move.

Injuries

Any time a horse begins to rear you are likely to be shocked by the extent of the damage he has already caused, he’s in a lot of pain but he’s so happy you love him. When a horse gets off his back after rearing there are some very basic and common injuries that usually can be treated in a matter of hours in a hospital.

Most horses will be able to gallop out. After a gallop out he either will lie down in a circle or in between two poles and lie for several hours while a veterinary surgeon removes as much pus, fluid and blood as possible from his wounds.

For small breeds such as poodles, they often will have a hard time with the hardest of the harder wounds, however after a few hours their wounds will heal back up and they can have a good walk. The same is true for their ears.

After a gallop you can see the horse is getting the most out of a good walk. After some time his wounds will also heal.

The other major injuries that typically happen to horses after rearing are bone broken bones, cracked ribs, fractured limbs, and injuries to the heart, lungs and intestines. Any time a horse rear you are likely to be shocked by the extent of the damage he has already caused, but if he does it’s also safe to assume that his body is in shock. We’ll discuss the heart a bit later.

Heart

Your horse can’t move his heart, so is it safe to assume he’s in shock as well? Well, not necessarily. It can still feel good to push the reins in his mouth which is the fastest way for him to get the air into his lungs; however it should also be remembered that when your horse wakes up he will be in a bad way. This is why it is so important to get him moving again. He will not want to sit
