So, this is a good time to start a little newbie friendly, new song and instrument lessons with me. If you’ve never played guitar before, the best way to learn it is to learn it on guitar and then start playing a few tracks from the album (or play them live) to build your chops.
In this lesson, we are going to create a few songs on newbie’s guitar – they’d better be pretty easy to learn; so you won’t have to try and master a song before trying it – we will make it easy for you.

How to Play C on Guitar
There have been many books and Youtube videos published about learning how to play and playing C on guitar, but we will take a slightly different approach by just going through the key sections of C major scale from start to finish in order to see exactly how easy it is for beginners to learn this scale and for experienced players to play fast, fast, fast.
The book I read is the book by Stephen Lawrence which is a great book as it has the whole spectrum so you can learn almost as quickly as the scale can be played, and the key sections are easy to learn. The video above shows you the C major scale from I to III.
Before we begin, you will need a keyboard or computer with an interface like Sonar or Ableton Live, so you can do most of the music on the computer. If you are using a computer, it will only take a few minutes to download the lesson and start playing this song.

1. Learning How to Play C Major Scale by Stephen Lawrence
You can learn this scale simply by starting with the following scales (and notes) (and notes from the chord progression):
I – IV – V – VI – VII – I – VIII
So if you want to play C on guitar, first pick a key and then go through the chord progression in those modes until you hear the chord you like. Then start playing C – D – E – F – G
