However Nadal insisted he would want to add to his 13 French Open titles on his next return, saying he would “love” to bring the tournament back to Paris.
“I won one of the most grand stages of all of clay, which made me happy as well,” the 28-year-old told Canal+. “I want to play more. To play the French Open more, which is always a target. [But] that’s what I’ve been doing the last 12 months. The last 14 months I worked for the most perfect results. I feel good now.”
Nadal went on to list a number of the players he would like to challenge from now on, including the French Open champion Garbine Muguruza. He said: “I can’t wait to play Roger Federer again. I hope I can beat him and I’ll be ready to face anyone from Europe.”
