If it’s the iPhone, go to Settings > Phone > Picture Editing and make sure the “Export Picture In RAW format” is enabled.

When I want to open an image, all I have to do is click the “Open” button and I can choose the image in my computer. If I don’t, I have to go to iTunes, go to my pictures and select “Open”. It does not matter whether I’m in portrait view or landscape view.

If you want to download additional files then use Dropbox, for example, and drag them to your desktop. You won’t be able to use them in a folder.
How will I know if there are new pictures on my computer?

How do I save images?
A great feature of your phone is the ability to save images. If you don’t want to use the Google Drive interface, you can save them in a folder in your contacts.
If you have more than 1 email that you want to export to images, create your own folder in your phone in which to save these emails. This way you also have the option of importing into your phone by importing an image from your computer.
Make sure you are sending the files for email use, they are usually too big to send in your message box. If you want to import other images into a folder use the import view feature on the Android or iOS Phone. There are some limitations, though. You can only import photos, but you cannot import the full screen of an image or image with captions. The import only happens the first time you open the file.
