The answer can easily be: Google! (We know, we know… but you’ll find plenty of good resources on the Internet, including us.)
Why do professionals use Google to edit their photos? Why? Because Google is a search engine that gives us fast access to the web by crawling every page in the internet.
But where did Google originate?
The question is not why Google started, but why it is always available at all.
You saw it already. Google is the first search engine to give us all this information. Before the web existed, the ability to access a vast amount of information was difficult and costly. Search engines had to crawl the entire world to figure out what was actually popular. They even had to crawl Wikipedia.
Google was originally developed by the company that now owns Search Engine Land.
Here the story really gets interesting. On June 17, 1985, a Google engineer named Bill Joy invented the first search engine capable of searching large amounts of data.
That was it! Google just got that far. Later, engineers worked to add search functions to the browser and create more sophisticated search engines like Google+ and YouTube. Google also started offering ads.
Now, there are countless more ways for professionals to use Google! The latest search engine is probably YouTube. It recently started working in addition to the native YouTube functionality, with a mobile app and free web access (for most users.)
So why Google? Why now?
The first time Google is used for the purpose of editing photos is often a first step in an artist’s work. For example, let’s say an artist wants to use Google+ to post a photo to his social media networks.
How do you edit a photo with Google+ on a smart phone? Google+ is the default photo editor that you have on your phone.
