There are a lot of tips out there. I’ve spent years researching this topic and I can’t remember one thing that I’ve used and I think every photographer will have different ways to edit their images, but I have found several key tips that I keep in mind.
1) Look at your photos like a movie, and look at your subject like a character in a story. There’s nothing wrong with a camera that simply records your life, it’s just a little bit weird that everyone just thinks its a camera.
2) When the photographer puts a little bit of the story together around a scene, you’ll look forward to the next take because everyone wants to see it.
3) If you get the right angle, you’ll get the best photos. Focus on the most important thing and get your own shot. It all depends on who your subject is.
4) Never leave your subject hanging out in the background. You need to find an atmosphere to move towards. Try to take pictures of your characters when you talk to them.
5) Look through your camera roll at every scene that’s interesting. Some scenes come on the first morning after a night of partying. Take pictures of the actors as they get dressed to go out and have coffee with their friends, when they’re not at “party”.
6) Always make sure your subject is still at the right place and time in your photo so that they look like they’re still where they were. When the camera is looking for them, your camera isn’t really looking for them.
7) Take pictures whenever you have a chance because that’s when you’re most fun taking pictures. Look through your camera roll at every scene that’s interesting and make your best shot. There are no rules there.
8) Try out different situations, look as though you may have just met a new person, or maybe have just found a new place, and try taking an interesting take.
9) Use light and composition, use the lighting and composition that works best and don’t be afraid to try.
10) Shoot long exposures to create the most interesting shots, and then freeze.
11) Once you’ve got a few images, put them on your computer and upload to IMGUR.com, and take your chances with people in chat and so on. It will keep you honest and your photos will be judged.
12) If you look through your camera roll, try to
