Photoshop Elements is not an entirely new product line but rather an expansion on Photoshop that adds a layer of automation to assist in certain processes. Lightroom is a much more complete product line with all of the tools and tools that are needed to work with color, tone, and overall workflow. This is the line that I am reviewing, but the two can be purchased in the same package for $499.00 each.
What is the best part about the package?
This is the highlight for the package. Not only do you get the suite of tools, you get a free 30 day trial of Lightroom on Adobe.com. This program will take your images and turn them into a beautiful professional looking digital product. The Lightroom digital product allows you to see exactly what your images might look like in terms of color, depth, color space, and exposure and can be downloaded by email. This is something that every photo editor should have because you can take a photo and instantly know if it will have the right look and feel.
How do I use the Lightroom software?
The most popular applications are Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Lightroom CC, Photoshop CS6, and Photoshop Elements. Photoshop is easily the simplest of the pack and the software can be used instantly. In a few minutes you will be able to import an image in Lightroom and immediately see what you are editing. Photoshop offers some very slick options, but once you get used to they will allow you to create some stunning works of art and photos.
With Lightroom (CC), it’s a little bit different as you now have a few different layers that you can add to your work and then you can have them edited at the same time. Lightroom CC and Lightroom Elements are in very similar categories as it just offers you more controls and tools. Lightroom is very robust when it comes to image editing and when dealing with high quality images, there aren’t many tools out there that rival it.

I am thinking that photographers that have a very basic understanding of image editing and photography and are comfortable editing images at their own time with Lightroom may find the Lightroom package very useful.
