I do, because my brother is a teacher and he is very good with a piano. I just want to play with my brother, be a little bit more fun. I have to work at it a lot more than with the piano. I try to do all my workouts and my practice at the pool. If I have to take a shower, I’ll be doing that and it will be a lot more fun than doing a practice session. But with the piano it goes quickly. My mom is a piano teacher so I have that down. The whole time you don’t have to make music. You can just play and be a nice person and you don’t have to have any ideas or anything.
Do you have any other hobbies like a dog?
I love playing chess. I have a friend who’s been in the chess world. He has been playing with me for a while or he has been playing for a while and I am going to be the best player in chess history. He’s so high-level and so good and I look up to him so much. I play a little bit. I play with toys. That is what I enjoy. I like playing guitar and playing a lot of guitar. I love rock ‘n’ roll. In fact, I used to take a lot of classes to work on my rock ‘n’ roll skills. But since then I have been trying to work on my jazz skills. I am a guitar virtuoso. But I like rock ‘n’ roll.
Your song “My Music, My Way” has been on NPR’s popular play list. Are you planning on releasing more music, especially with your song “I Love My Neighbor” in it.
Oh yeah. That song was inspired by a friend who lives outside of Pittsburgh, and she always takes me to go visit her house. She just moved in recently (laughs).
Have you been playing any gigs lately?
I have been doing a lot of recording over here, and I am starting to finish my first album and do another song. I just got a lot more work done. I will likely be doing a whole album of stuff. It’s been a long time since I have been recording.
Have you thought about a tour or a record release?
I have a lot of stuff to do. Maybe I can try one for fun. Maybe I can do something with my band. It just depends. I haven’t actually thought about releasing myself yet
