Do they mean anything to you?
I think the black keys on a piano mean something to me. They have been there for quite a while now. I have a lot of music from different cultures on there. My father taught me how to play classical piano, and how to play a certain piece of music. So the sound is really unique in a way. When I was eight years old I went to Paris and I started writing things on the piano. After a while I moved to a recording studio where the pianist was recording. I didn’t have any money and I spent two years writing things on the piano, and three years I was in studio and I played it. There are a few more, but for the most part it was just me on the piano at various times.
What are the musical pieces on your CDs?
It’s really hard to get the piano stuff on the CDs. There’s a record of that here:
It’s very different from my music. I’m more of a jazz type of guy. I really like piano tunes. I do not like the piano’s background with all these strings and a bunch of bells, bells and bells. I’m a lot more of a guitar guy. I play the guitar and use the piano for different things.
What songs did you sing on your CDs that might be different from your original music?
I’d love to know what tracks are different from what I did. There’s a lot of things that are different and different. I haven’t thought too much about it. I just want to sing my original versions.
How did you learn how to play the violin?
I’ve got about 10 years of music on the piano so I would have to start at a young age and learn quickly. I used to teach myself a lot of stuff, like how to play the violin. The way I learned the violin was basically by listening to the way the violin was being played on the classical record. I liked the way it was playing. It was just how I felt, and maybe I was just born that way, or maybe it was through the music and the sound. I never listened to my dad or my teachers. So, I just took it from there. I’ve never really thought about the violin. I don’t even know if I was a violist. I didn’t like the way it was playing. I think it was just a way of getting in tune.
