The guitar is really a great and versatile tool to learn and play guitar. For those who are a beginner or no longer feel comfortable playing guitar the ukulele is great. If you are a more experienced player you will discover that the ukulele will allow you to play in a more structured or structured way. This might sound very counterintuitive but the ukulele really takes your ability to connect and work with a particular chord from a purely individualistic perspective to a more professional (and often emotional or emotional-rich) perspective. This is something that many guitarists don’t really experience while learning the guitar (or vice versa). This may feel like an obvious but very important part of the learning process when you start learning this instrument. Playing a chord with the ukulele allows you to create a different (sometimes very cool) vibe/way of playing than when playing guitar. I would recommend reading “What’s the difference for me?” and “Understanding chord shapes” to get a better idea of how to actually create these kinds of chord forms with the ukulele. The ukulele will teach you to work from a higher level and it will also make it easier to learn the guitar with out having a teacher to guide you into specific notes. There is a lot of potential to this instrument and it has changed my life. The main thing is to learn and master the ukulele. There is no substitute for experience or playing an instrument that allows you to communicate with someone you trust. I really recommend listening to the great classical/dance ukulele player, Michael Tilson Thomas, and go listen to some of his recordings of his ukulele playing. His ukulele, which I am personally a huge fan of and also recommend, is the most challenging instrument for a beginner to learn. The ukulele is really only suitable for students with at least an intermediate level of playing ability. These students can expect to take at least 10 years of playing time to become comfortable. (I have no doubt that there are many, many more talented players out there with much less time to get to this standard.) With this in mind it is critical that you follow my guidelines above which are based on what many of my best student have said when they first started to learn the guitar.
