The first thing people want to know is how long it takes to learn to play an instrument. This time in the UK can be a challenging one to make the transition.
Some people are not ready for the new musical ideas that arise over time while others struggle in the beginning. Learning a ukulele really is as simple as learning a new instrument. After all, these little creatures are pretty easy to learn, so you won’t want to put your learning plans in jeopardy by spending too much time studying. But it doesn’t have to be the complete opposite either.
In order to understand the music of New Zealand you need to learn to play a ukulele – not so much in theory, but the notes and chords on how to play them.
Below is a short guide to all the important chords and notes that I am going to play on the uke of your dreams. This should be pretty easy for people who are already comfortable with the ukulele and their ukulele fingers.
For me it was actually a bit easier when my friend and co-singer, Paul Steed, showed me the “Jungle Songs” album in which he plays three songs he made himself on the ukulele.
You will also need some practice instruments. I recommend buying some ukulele strings from ebay to get you started.
The chords
It is important that you learn the chords so that you can learn the different chords in the style that you will use over time.
If you already know chords that you like to play it is a good idea to take some time to practice these chords and learn how to change the chords around.
One important thing that I did over the time was to practice making the chord progression with my ukulele finger.
I would use my hand to get a hold of the instrument and start playing the chords at a slow speed.
This allowed me to learn how to play a chord progression in a more efficient way where I can play these chords much more slowly.
Some people who have a slower finger may use these chords very quickly while others may need to do a little bit of practice at first.
