Does it add complexity to the sound? Is it something to add to the recording of your playing?
I’d love to say that the Oud is much harder with our music being a slower, more nuanced piece of music. But to this writer a lot of the work I’m doing, particularly in playing the piano, is really about refining that sound, and not necessarily taking the whole guitar or the whole bass or the whole percussion, and making different things sound better or sound “dumber”, but the idea would be that you use all the different instruments that could possibly be used in the piece, in a way that is not an extreme, “dumber” piece.
But the hardest thing we’ve done on the album is not the actual recording at all, but it is the time that we take to make that recording.
Is the band looking to do bigger tours now after this?
Oh yeah, definitely. We’ve had great things to say about it, but obviously it’s a huge project for us.
With the release of “Wolves”, who is next in line to make an acoustic album that they can use again? Are there any artists you’ve written your heart out to? Any bands you’re hoping you see?
I would definitely say the last song we recorded, and it’s the only song on the album that’s really been made in two years, was “Wolves”. We just finished recording that earlier this year and just got it finished and finished in October. It’s the single we recorded in the studio, but it’s the most intimate, quiet song I wrote for the record. It is really about feeling like you have to leave everything behind when you’re feeling alone.
I’m sure the next couple years for you are going to be busy, but it can’t be that it’s going to be a waste.
Absolutely not. It can and is, but we’re going to keep going.
That being said, we’re still looking for a producer.
