GQ magazine ran a story earlier this week suggesting that the pair had been seeing each other since the “American Horror Story”-star released her single “Problem.” But Bennett has denied he and the teen pop star was dating during an interview with Us Weekly this week. “No, I’m totally not dating Ariana,” he said when asked if he and the pop star were dating. “It has nothing to do with ‘America’s Got Talent,’ ” he added.

Bennett’s reps did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. He previously told the tabloid he was “not a fan of the rumor” but later denied the report when it turned out to be true.
The story was later reported on by Variety.
This isn’t the first time Bennett’s publicist has had to respond to a rumor that he’s dating a girl in the music industry.
In July 2014, Bennett’s agency Jann Wenner told PEOPLE in a statement, “We are aware of the rumor surrounding the relationship between Ariana Grande and Matt Bennett. Matt and Ariana met three years ago. While they may have been friends previously, they haven’t been dating and are not currently dating. Matt just had a family funeral. We respect the privacy of Matt’s family and will let them have their day of grief.”
The actress was recently seen at a concert together with fellow Ariana Grande co-host Taylor Swift, and told People magazine on Thursday that they have been dating since December.

Bennett told Entertainment Tonight he and Bennett are “going through a little bit of rough times right now, but we are in pretty good shape, so I think we’ll be fine.”
The “Problem” singer explained why she has an “unfortunate history of not being able to get past a period where I was hurt. I need to get past that. It’s tough being in the middle of something and not seeing how things are moving forward. But I’m very strong, and I don’t really care what people read about it.”
