SCHLAPP: [laughing] Oh I don’t use things that are stuffed. I don’t know. That’s why I’m like this now. The funny thing is that you’ve got to really think about the props, because the way you make something, it’s like trying to get rid of a virus inside the body. You get a little nervous when you put the thing on, so you have to be meticulous. At least that’s the way I was with the stuffed cow. I know people will tell you that it’s too real. But my wife had a cow, and she said, “Oh I like that.” And I started to realize that if it’s not real, it’s no good.
How do you think the Internet has impacted your career?
SCHLAPP: You have to understand why the Internet is so successful. Because it allows you to spread your message and to get it into a way that other people might not, that’s how the Internet works. But you also have to understand the Internet is a very human platform. I don’t think I have ever been able to use it for anything, because the very first time I ever put an Internet video out, it went really well, then within a couple weeks, then a couple months, it was over and over again. I had to get used to it, because it has an effect.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
SCHLAPP: I just did another big trip last week. I went to a wedding party in Los Angeles with my daughter and got to hang out with people. I went to a movie shoot where everybody would sit in silence. There was no movie. There was no dialogue, so I was like: Is everybody still sitting there silent? They did not. You’ve got to be able to be as quiet as you can because that’s how it is. And I think in the future, you’ll be able to go to places you wouldn’t normally go to, if they’re going to take the time to put it out.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
SCHLAPP: I don’t know. I don’t think I really do have to give any advice to anybody. I have a good sense of what’s going on in other people’s lives, but I don’t know anything specific about anybody’s life. I’m just kind
