I have a strange thought that a lot of people are having trouble with. It is basically this:
I have an odd number of people I’d rather have on my team. I think it might be a good idea to go with a guy with the same background as me at the least. This man may be a little different, or maybe just a little worse, but he’s also a lot better guy, at least he’s nice, so I’m okay with that. In any case, the guy has a lot of options in his free time. That man would probably choose a different line of work. You know. Do you have any idea what a person living their life the way that this man does would be like?
It is basically the premise of this question. However here are a few things to note. It is not necessarily the only thing I think might make a difference. In fact I am not sure it matters a whole lot how this person would have an effect on the rest of my team. But it might make a difference, at least depending on how important the guy is to the team. So let’s have a look.
Does “Is this guy a good teammate” matter?
Yes. The fact that you have a player with “similar” backgrounds and preferences would probably be a big deal in the long term. There are many reasons why I think this would be a good idea. But first a little background. I’d be completely honest here and say I am biased. However I have a strong conviction that “this guy would make my team better”. This is a pretty reasonable thing to believe.
You see, one of the big things to note, is that I have spent the last couple days (a week) going back through everything I’ve done in the last five years of Dota 2. There is the same guy for me all the time, I don’t have many people with the same hobbies, or different backgrounds. The only things that change a lot are just my personal tastes and preferences. So this guy that I’m considering would only be a small factor in those things. I would probably get along fine with him, because I’m pretty much the same. The guy’s background is just that. So basically there would be not really any difference between us.
