“I did it right when I was about 2,” he said.
His mother, Sharon, then a young teenager, was not surprised.

Since the U.S. military presence in the Middle East peaked in the late 1990s, our commitment to regional stability has continued to increase. The Islamic State continues to threaten the very stability the United States has sought to build and protect. We must never hesitate to seek more, when necessary. However, the threat of the Islamic State should not distract our attention when other issues require it to focus on. We should never ignore the challenges facing the people of the region or fail to work with allies on the ground to build the capacity of these societies to fight the Islamic State, or the terrorists it supports.
