I’m a fan. I think he’s fantastic.
He’s funny as well.
You should see some of the stuff that we were doing for “Big Bird,” I mean, all kinds of characters. It was really something like, I don’t know … it’s funny in a lot of different ways. You might not understand it at first. You know, even with the same voice, different expressions, but people will be able to identify with it in a lot of different ways. Especially in kids, you’re like, “That’s funny. I knew he’d do that!” And then you actually see the character and find out how funny he is. So it’s definitely different from when we do “Big Bird,” you know?
And of course, there was the Big Bird one, which is one of the most amazing ones.

Jello was so … funny.
Well, and all the other puppets and stuff. He’s such a good puppeteer, because he’s able to communicate these different emotions. He can get so emotional. We did that in the original “Sesame Street.” He’d be upset with himself or he’d cry his eye out or he’d be happy and we’d be like, “We need some more Jel.” So we did all those, and we had to get the puppet into the voice, so the person wasn’t crying all the time. And he had a new little voice that was fun, like maybe the funniest little voice, you know? So a lot of that stuff was really exciting for me.
Is there anything unique about Jello that you didn’t use in “Sesame Street” that you might use on “Rizzoli & Isles”?
My favorite, for sure, is the Jellyfish.

I got to see about the original Jello the first time I met him, and I really liked the head in the middle of his arms. That’s one of those characters that could have been amazing … but then I just remember thinking, “I’ve got to get him a mouth and then I know what I’ll be eating. I can’t do this.” He’s got everything. I mean, he’s funny. There’s no one like him out there. He’s a total star. You know, “R
