You might think the most familiar version is the black version, but it was actually known by the name “Polly” in her early days.
Polly was actually a puppet made from foam latex as she was a Christmas present for a friend who lived with her parents.
When the family moved at the beginning of the film, she was given a different black name, and then was changed to “Sofa”. However as Pixar’s work progressed, it wasn’t until Toy Story 4 that she would be finally named “Vulcan”.

Vulcan was an alien created by the Big Bad to be an “oppressor”, and ultimately killed by Woody and Buzz, with Buzz saving her from death, only to have the alien explode, leaving Vulcan in her place.
Why did Toy Story 4 start with Andy hanging around inside the barn?
Andy ended up at the Barn, instead of the Toy Shop, due to an early cut of the film where the audience found Andy at the Toy Warehouse and went back to the Barn. Pixar kept Andy at the Barn for a good number of cuts, but when he actually started to show interest in working at the Barn, the Disney studio made up for the cut with an entirely new ending.
How did Buzz make out with Woody?
Bumblebee was supposed to be able to fly, after Buzz saved Bucky from a bird of prey, but when it hit Buzz’s head, he had to do some damage to his wings to make them work. A little extra damage, and he is able to fly.
Why didn’t Andy go to Buzz for help in making toys?
It is said that the Toy Story filmmakers didn’t want to deal with the story of Andy in a world where Buzz had gotten a new toy, since he hadn’t talked to Andy in nearly a year. It was also thought that in such a world, Buzz might not necessarily want to help Andy in the future, and therefore might not trust him anymore. Andy didn’t seem to have that problem with Buzz at first, but later on, when he met Buzz again and found out what he did to Buzz’s toys, he became quite cold to Buzz, as seen in Toy Story 3, especially towards the end of the film.
