Is becoming a film director hard? – Introduction To Color In Digital Filmmaking Handbook 5Th

I don’t mean that literally–but, yes, it does get you down, you know? It’s not an easy thing right there. I mean, it’s not like you get a free lunch out of having to make a film. It all gets very dark, very quickly. And I still do think as somebody who’s had to go through this a number of times, one of the major frustrations to me is that there is now an abundance of movies being made that are basically a series of pictures that have the same premise that I have. I don’t mean to imply that my stories aren’t unique–I have a great story for each chapter, it’s just that sometimes there aren’t a lot of opportunities to tell those stories. So sometimes I’m stuck in the rut of trying to write a movie in a certain way for that particular character who is trying to do the most outrageous thing in the most horrible situation.

AVC: You’re doing a movie of your own as well, and people can compare to it how your other movies are.

JW: Totally! I mean, it’s the absolute best thing that could possibly happen. I actually think we’re better off, in a way, as a result of the lack of great new stuff in the marketplace. Just as a consequence of that, the ones that don’t work tend to get the credit, whereas if there’s something fresh that is being done on a fairly regular basis then they actually get the credit for it.

AVC: You’ve said that your new movie features more gore. Can you give us an example of this and then say more about it?

JW: Sure. We have a sequence in the movie that I’ve known I would try and get out of a film, and it’s sort of a gore/romance in a sense. It’s an old style of horror, and it’s a great example of horror and a nice, warm-hearted film. So it’s sort of where you throw the old rules out the window and you’ve got a nice, new-fashioned kind of romance between a woman and a man that’s a little darker, which I think is a big thing about my movie.

AVC: The guy who plays that guy is named Richard O’Brien. He’s a good example of somebody whose name’s in the credits.

JW: Yeah, Richard is a good name!

AVC: I read that O’
