What are the best locations for filming?
There were several locations I checked on a whim and found the best locations for filming; the great Alameda Co., San Rafael, Alameda Co. (San Rafael), San Rafael & Alameda Co. (San Rafael), Burlingame & San Rafael (Burbank) and East San Francisco-San Rafael.
Where can I shoot?
There are several spots I found great choices for shooting. Burlingame is one of the best locations to shoot on a budget (the only budget friendly location in a city of that size); it is close to some of the best restaurants and restaurants are open 24/7, so you can get any kind food you want for $5 or less.
I think this is a great place to shoot for about $200+
I would stay with the area of Alameda, but I’m still a little reluctant to say I would consider Alameda Co. (San Rafael) because of the cost.
Do you have any advice as to where to shoot if you wish to make a budget documentary?
Well, in the event you want to travel, stay out of downtown SF and around South San Francisco; they have great things to offer the documentary filmmaker.
In the case of Burlingame, I would go to the Peninsula.
But for an East side trip, I recommend to check out Alameda Co. (San Rafael – a little more expensive than Burlingame).
I’m always excited to see more good stuff at the San Rafael Arts District.
Also, if you think about it, Eastside SF feels like it’s the east coast in the west.
A few interesting things:
They have amazing parks, and some great eateries.
They have some great parks and some really cool spots to shoot.
Also, you can rent a condo and enjoy that amazing lifestyle.
There are a ton of bars, restaurants, and galleries in the arts district that are affordable.
You can rent an apartment (in the West SF part of San Rafael).
Or, rent a little boat and get away from the hustle and bustle of San Francisco.
