It takes an average of 2 years of college, plus 6 months of practising every week, and a whole month of travel, as I work full time as a freelance musician in Europe. I don’t have the time or money today. As an example, I spent three months on a guitar lesson for this. I was at my studio studying but, as it was really hot outside and so I went outside with another guitar player (the weather was perfect for the month I was there). The weather wasn’t so hot in Germany and so for three hours we play the whole fingerstyle, in which we are using different instruments as they have no rhythm section.
Are there any other things you are hoping to do for the future?
Yes, I’d like to explore an idea I had, when I started playing the guitar in the 1990s that I would like to be a teacher at some point. I wanted to do that for many years, but unfortunately I don’t have the time to do other things besides just play guitar, or music as a life-long hobby. I would like to go to some countries where there’s a demand for teaching and teaching is part of their daily life. I’d like to travel abroad with my guitar for all seasons – for instance a teacher and student can travel to different countries.
The University of Virginia’s student union has announced it has taken an unprecedented legal step to protect the rights of its members after its president, Teresa Sullivan, said they would be allowed to bring guns into the building at any time of the day or night.
Ms Sullivan made the claim on Friday in a speech to the members of university’s student union, UVA Fraternity and Sorority Life. Speaking at a news conference before a special meeting, she cited the safety of the university, the lives of students, and “the safety of the officers who attend the fraternity and sorority houses”.
“To the university and police and all of you here today, I know there are times in our daily lives when we need to carry firearms,” she said. “I promise you that I will not hesitate to act in your place.”
Ms Sullivan said it would only take a call from a concerned friend to her and she would then be allowed to call for armed security guards to patrol the halls at any time of the day, and at any level of security, when officers deemed they needed to enter the premises “to investigate allegations of misconduct”.
