As a beginner, it takes a while. Some students start studying right after their first real guitar lesson, while others wait one year or two before studying. In my experience, it takes a couple of months, especially when you take on a larger project.

The best teachers are the ones with an attitude, and I think that is what the students expect from their instructors. I teach with a different kind of attitude, and that is why that makes my students happy and proud. By teaching without being self-promotional, I make my students more humble, and more patient to listen to my advice.

A woman has filed a $15 million lawsuit alleging a sheriff’s deputy violated her civil rights, using excessive force against her 18-month-old son when he was being restrained at the Texas Department of Public Safety juvenile detention center in 2012.
The allegations were made last week in an 18-page lawsuit from a woman who was not the target of the use of force. Neither is her son, which was in solitary confinement at the time.
A Dallas County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, Cpl. Greg Conley, said the department would not comment “for privacy reasons.”
The mother of a 12-year-old boy who has been at DSHE for more than a decade alleges that a DSHE deputy, later identified as Richard Hernandez, forcibly restrained the boy and used a stun gun to subdue his son. Police say they found a gun under the toddler’s pillow.
The lawsuit claims the incident with her son began on Oct. 11, 2011, after a group of deputies stopped the mother’s SUV for speeding and a drug violation. The vehicle was searched and found to contain methamphetamine. The mother, whose name has not been released, and her son both tested positive for methamphetamine, the lawsuit states. The man who was the passenger in the car was charged with possession.
