Yes, a brand new one came out yesterday called “Photoshop Express,” this one runs on Macs and Linux to allow you to do some simple stuff.
The app is a nice visual aid for Photoshop, which is great if you’re creating images to post on a blog or a photo-sharing site like Flickr. I wish there was a way to import my photo library onto the Mac though.
If you’re trying to get some more serious work done this year, the $30,000,000 computer will set you back $2,495,000. That would be $700,000 a year, but that’s an average of $1,600 per year, not necessarily the highest it will cost in your region.
It’s interesting to think about, but I’m not sure it’s enough money to save up for the computer. I’m guessing that most households pay about $5,000 or $5,500 a year in college tuition. Plus a lot from the rest of it going out to buy food, utilities, housing and more—that’s about $1,000 a year that isn’t making you rich.
I hope my $700,000 a year doesn’t come from some corporate investment, or from a retirement account like the 401k you have built in your home. But if it does, I’m not sure I’ll be able to afford this computer.
Photoshop is still worth a lot—it’s much faster and uses less power than Photoshop Express does (though still a lot of power still.) The real downside is that you can’t really edit images without Photoshop for a while, but that’s the small price to pay for a huge potential payoff.
The new version is out now, with some new features, and it costs $30,000,000. You will be able to use it as an editing tool (not so useful for serious creative work—that’s where the “Photoshop Express” comes in.)
If you haven’t got your own computer (or don’t think you need one), buy a new computer if you have an old one—you now can get the PC version for less than $1,000. Or buy an inexpensive Windows laptop and upgrade to a nice, new OS.
I’m glad the new version has the power and size up front, instead of having to spend a million on all of that software and hardware. But if you’ve got plenty of money and are ready to get that Photoshop
