Do I have to be an MIT person to be a contributor to MIT’s Digital Scholarship Lab? Yes. MIT students contribute research under the direction of a Research Associate who will review your work on a case-by-case basis. The editorial staff of the Digital Scholarship Lab is a group of students, professors, and faculty who are active and interested in the digital scholarship field. Many of them have a background in humanities, technology, business and related fields.
Will I be compensated for my work? Yes. Your pay will be provided directly by MIT via a monthly payment plan that will be reviewed by you before the submission deadline and your work may be funded with MIT or similar external funding. In either event, we will provide you the opportunity to provide additional documentation that you have reviewed this material. I’m going to be studying abroad in the United States, can I be a Digital Scholar? Yes, it is encouraged that you will contribute to digital scholarship while you are at the United States University. See our web page on the Academic Exchange Programme.
Will my academic work be reviewed and edited by professors at MIT? We are a small group of MIT undergraduates with significant experience in digital scholarship. Some of us teach students about how to get involved in new initiatives, and will often serve as the editor of the essays themselves.
