Hatch and Orrin are two of seven members of the Senate Judiciary Committee that voted to block an attempt to repeal the legal effects of DOMA last Wednesday.

The two Republicans called for the Senate to hold hearings on how to “work within the Constitution” and how to “address these challenges.”

The Judiciary Committee voted 9-8 along party lines to block any consideration of a marriage equality bill.
