It is one of our most useful scales.
It has the first four notes of G major.
Here’s how to add it to other scales:
Click the button, copy and paste it, then click the pencil icon. This will bring up another tab in the right-hand side of the screen where you can see the note names for the new scales in the menu bar of the new tab.
If you look at the new tab in the right-hand side of the screen, the scales are added immediately.
Click the arrow that says E Major on the page
If you look under the note-cell heading, you will start seeing E minor as a different kind of note to use with these scales.
Why use E minor? We’ve talked about E major in earlier lessons…
When you start learning these scales with E major, here in D, you’ll need to learn your E minor scales.
We’re going to use these E minor scales now because we need to learn the major scale and the D major scale.
Remember, we said once that you need to learn only one scale over the major scales.
If you learn the chords, you can skip the note names and go straight to the scale names.
However, if you want to learn the scale names for these two scales, you’ll have to go to the notes that they have in common.
So, if you hear that E♯ is used with the E♭ major scale, that’s the first E major scale of E♯ major scale.
So, if you hear it written as E♮, you’ll know it is the first E major scale from G♯ major scale.
Because we’re using the first E minor scale, we need to know these two scales before we can add any notes to them.
When the E major scale is in G♯ major scale, we need to know the first E major scale, so our E minor scale will be a major scale.
This will make the E dominant scale for our bass guitar much easier to play.
To start learning E minor, just take one of the E minor scales we covered before from the left-hand side of the screen, E♯, and add the note names on the new tab.
