A good ukulele costs £200-£500, depending on the features you’d like to get, and your budget.
Most ukuleles are very good for beginners, so I would recommend getting a decent quality ukulele to start out.
You can get pretty much all the acoustic options – the most expensive, the best in my opinion (but you can try a lot of the cheaper models, too) are the Martin Guitars (which are about the same acoustic model as a violin, and it’s not cheap). I would recommend picking up an acoustic guitar as well, and make your first ukulele a guitar.

If you are trying to get a ukulele for beginners, I would suggest buying a ukulele that you can play right from the start, or even a cheaper version such as the Martin Guitars. You can purchase these on Amazon or eBay, and they are very affordable.
If you want to buy a basic acoustic ukulele, but not going on to buy any expensive models such as the Martin Amps, you will probably spend a large amount of money buying a cheap ukulele.
If you want to buy your first electric and then try the ukulele, then you will be better off buying the Martin Guitars, and starting from there.
If you don’t want to spend a fortune on this, then if you’re a beginner then I would recommend going with a cheaper brand such as Steinway in a store, so that you are able to buy your ukulele first and work out exactly what it is that you are going to get.

It’s difficult to get a ukulele for a beginner with such a huge amount of choice. The more choice you have, the more choice that the other ukulele companies have to offer (although you’ll have to experiment with which models/series you prefer)
