Do you use a slow one? It’s the same for any other action you can take, or movement,” says Sivakumar. “But with a ball you can turn and throw it and just take a little bit longer to run up and release. You can use that speed in other games.”
Sivakumar has been working as a developer at a startup called C.O.N.E which has been developing its own platform for the Wii U, and has already started working on a “multiplayer game” called C.O.N.E. World. The game, Sivakumar says, will have some similarities to Super Smash Bros. and Project CARS. Players will have the ability to use their own hands, or those of others, or even use a Wii U GamePad or GamePad controller plugged into a USB port.
“As a developer, this is something I think the gamers could enjoy playing on the Wii U, so I tried to do that,” he says. “It’s just a question of creating an environment where the gamer is able to do that, with the tools they have.”
Sivakumar says that the C.O.N.E. World team hopes to have the game out in the autumn or winter of 2014, so that consumers could start using the Wii U’s new features. C.O.N.E. will be able to communicate with other Wii U systems through Wi-Fi, while the C.O.N.E. World team’s C.O.N.E. Cloud will be able to download other players’ levels and content, meaning that, although each system will have its own unique challenges, if you play across all of them, you’ll be playing through all of them.
“What I tried to do is try to make a platform where this really exciting game really can be played with all the different Wii U systems and consoles you might see in the streets,” Sivakumar says. “You can actually have one single game that is truly playing with all Wii U consoles, and that’s C.O.N.E., and you have something totally different, even if it’s not completely the same because it contains all kinds of unique elements.”
