I went to a singing teacher on Saturday morning and found that he doesn’t want to listen to me.
I was disappointed. The teacher said that I can play the drums and my voice is good enough to be a singer. He doesn’t want to teach me. I said that I’d love to try but I don’t know how. Do you know any singers?
I got on the train and sang a little bit but didn’t really have a clue at all. I tried to sing something a little more advanced but I couldn’t get anywhere.
I’d heard of a guy called Mr. O. But I was still so inexperienced that he didn’t even ask me to talk to him (he gave me his number). Eventually he called me and asked me to come see him the next day. I had to leave the train at 5am. We met him in the subway at 7am (I am very bad at waiting time). We sat down and looked at our music charts which I can’t say to you guys but I don’t believe me that I have enough musical knowledge to be a singer or a drummer. After the first lesson, he said that with some practice I will be able to play the drums.
He gave me the most exciting song to practise. His girlfriend wanted to go to a concert as well and it was an interesting and special day (a friend of mine went to a concert with her). I went to a recording studio right away and started singing along to the song. As I’m writing this, this song got on my iPod and I tried to sing this and get it ready for the recording. It was a disaster.
When I got back home, I played the song the second time on the same instrument and that was good enough for today. And I played this song for my first performance. It seemed to work just fine. I don’t know if I’ll succeed. However, I guess it would be impossible to be a singer even if I played this one song.
My goal is to be able to perform better when I get better, so I want to improve even more. I really want to be able to sing a new song and just give it a try to see if it would work. I want to try it at the next show by performing a few more songs that no-one else has performed.
