The answer is that it depends on the specific conditions, but we’ll be using sun’s position in the sky to determine the “best” time to set up a tent at home and use an umbrella to protect the sun.
The best weather is often a good thing, but it just isn’t as easy as you think.
Let’s take a look at one of the weather reports for October 5th.
We’ll start out at about 7pm Eastern Standard Time for that date.
What we see is a cold front moving through the area.
But wait!
The next front moving through the region is much milder than the initial windfront.
The next line shows what the next “day of rain” would be. In this case, rain, with a chance of showers.
And the sun is above us!
We know that the clouds and sky cover the lower half of the face of the sun.
But what does that mean for a tent?
When the sun is below the horizon, it will not be illuminating any of the face of the sun.
Therefore, our tent must be high enough to get enough light in the sky just to see the face of the sun.
