One person has died and five others have been injured after a bag of stolen goods was thrown at the police station in Saint-Denis.
The attack happened outside the main entrance to Saint-Denis police station in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, France’s Interior Ministry said.
There were no reports of any injuries at the scene.
France is on high alert after a string of recent attacks.
On Tuesday, a suspected Islamist stabbed 10 people in Paris before being shot dead by police. The suspected Islamist had shouted jihadist slogans on Friday.
The attacks have heightened security in the French capital, which has been under heightened surveillance since Islamist militant attacks in January killed 17 people in Nice and June last year at the offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.
‘Bin with clothes’
One man at the scene told French TV channel BFM TV that two men had jumped on top of a man and a woman in the bin. They then threw a bag at the police station before fleeing the scene.
“That man died. I saw on newsprint where they put that woman on the ground,” he said.

The police station, where officers were also on alert following a string of attacks on police stations in the western city of Nice, has been closed indefinitely.
