In short, it’s a soccer goal that can be scored with both feet! In a normal game, only one soccer goal can be scored on the field at once! However, in a pitch event, every goal can be scored at once!
What is a pitch contest?
A pitch contest is a competition between players of the same team, in the same game, who want to score more goals. The event is similar to a soccer game, but instead of just trying to score on one side, you have to play to the goal.
What is a pitch in real life?
While the actual process of playing with one ball on the pitch can be extremely dangerous, in a soccer match, players have to put their all into the ball and try to score the most goals possible. That’s why in a stadium, the pitch is a concrete, hard surface.
Can you play the same game in real life as you do in a video game?
In reality, of course. In a real game, a player must go, kick, pass and even jump on the ball! In a pitch game, the ball must be passed to an empty space, and a player must take it from there with both feet. If one touches it to the ground without running into it first, he scores a spot kick. (Remember, you can just as easily take a thrower’s pass; you just have to run into it first)
What’s up with the goal sticks?
These are really just decoration. At the time of my original design, we considered adding some kind of game play or strategy to the sticks but decided they were not necessary. As you can see, the goal sticks are made entirely of rubber, which allows them to last for so long (though we are considering adding some kind of coating or anti-bacterial material).
Why are there so many different types of pitch?
Each team at PEA has its own pitch style and layout. Our original design was based on a 1 on 1 soccer field and I was interested in making the pitch feel like the real world. We settled on a flat surface and had a large grass field as the main element to represent the real environment. In order to show the player as much as the game allows, we had a “goal zone”, where players must make their decisions and move around before making the shot.
