To help you be more productive, you’re likely thinking in terms of pitch and delivery. Your mind is processing pitch, so it needs to be fast-acted, which means you won’t be able to focus during the pitch (because you’re thinking, “Oh shit, I got to make this right now, I have to be in line.”) So your mind starts processing it while you’re still moving, when you’re pitching the thing.

When I tell you what is this for, you automatically don’t ask, “I want to run a startup. Let’s start with a little bit of pitch. I could think of no better place than here. Just take a minute, I’ll wait.”
You might not get it right away, but over time you’ll get it. At the very least, you’ll realize that, while your pitch may be very well explained, this isn’t your first time here.
I had never pitched at a conference before. So for me I went directly into a presentation, so this was the first time I spoke. And I think that makes me great at my craft. When I tell people at first place, like they’re going to help me start my company, that’s the best I’ve ever felt in my life. I’m like, “Oh my god.”
I guess I should explain…
That’s what it feels like to pitch at the first place in your startup. In the next section, I’ll talk about how to get you to know what you’re pitching at that event.

In the event, I was given a microphone, so I could be a bit more vocal and talk about startups, because everyone was a startup. There was no audience. And if you’re in a small space like I was in, you have to go the talk like it’s the same as a business meeting if you want to sell.
I tried talking in a kind of neutral way, as if I have no idea what I’m really pitching. But I couldn’t get any traction at all until I started to make people excited about my startup.
